Gilia austro-occidentalis (A.D. Grant & V.E. Grant) A.D. Grant & V.E. Grant
Stem: 10--30 cm, branches spreading from base, tufted-woolly-hairy near base, glandular above. Leaf: basal in rosette, 1-pinnate-lobed, glabrous or tufted-woolly-hairy; axis linear; lobes spreading, 1--6 mm, linear, entire or toothed. Inflorescence: cluster, open in fruit; flowers 1--5; pedicels unequal. Flower: calyx 2--2.5 mm, glandular or tufted-woolly-hairy, green or +- purple, lobes acuminate, as wide as membranes; corolla 6--8 mm, tube purple, throat yellow, lobes 1.4--2.8 mm, lavender, with 1 purple spot at base; stamens unequal, longest reaching corolla lobe middle. Fruit: 3--4 mm, +- = calyx, widely ovoid or spheric; valves detaching. Seed: 24--30. Chromosomes: 2n=18.
Ecology: Sandy flats, interior, coastal valleys; Elevation: 600--1300 m. Bioregional Distribution: SCoR, s SnJV, n WTR. Flowering Time: Mar--May Note: Similar to Gilia interior, Gilia minor, Gilia inconspicua.
