Galium wrightii A. Gray
Habit: Perennial herb, erect to sprawling, +- glabrous, puberulent to sparsely hairy; proximal stems woody; not dioecious. Stem: 15--50 cm. Leaf: in whorls of 4, sessile, <= 12 mm, linear to oblanceolate, tip acute to acuminate. Inflorescence: panicle, terminal, open. Flower: bisexual or unisexual; corolla rotate, generally red to pink, glabrous (sparsely hairy). Fruit: nutlets, +- 5 mm including hairs; hairs few, long, straight. Chromosomes: 2n=22.
Ecology: Shady, rocky canyons, pinyon-pine woodland; Elevation: 1600--2000 m. Bioregional Distribution: DMtns (Clark Mtn); Distribution Outside California: to western Texas, Mexico. Flowering Time: May--Jun, Aug--Sep
