Galium proliferum A. Gray
Habit: Annual, erect, 5--30 cm, +- hairy, generally scabrous. Leaf: in whorls of 3--4 and some opposite, sessile, 3--10 mm, generally lanceolate, tip obtuse to abruptly soft-pointed; proximal-most wide, petioled. Inflorescence: flowers generally 1 in axils, subsessile. Flower: bisexual; corolla rotate, +- yellow. Fruit: nutlets; hairs short, hooked.
Ecology: Rocky banks, limestone ledges; Elevation: 1100--1400 m. Bioregional Distribution: DMtns; Distribution Outside California: to Arizona, Mexico. Flowering Time: Apr--May
