Galium muricatum W. Wight
Habit: Perennial herb, low, cushion-like; dioecious. Stem: 7--20 cm, generally glabrous. Leaf: in whorls of 4, 6--10 mm, elliptic to obovate, +- leathery, shiny, sparsely hairy adaxially; tip obtuse, abruptly soft-pointed; petioled. Inflorescence: open, few-flowered clusters in distal axils; flowers few. Flower: corolla rotate, +- yellow, glabrous. Fruit: berry, puberulent. Chromosomes: 2n=22,44.
Ecology: Shady, damp conifer or mixed forest; Elevation: 50--1100 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCoRO, NCoRH; Distribution Outside California: southern Oregon. Flowering Time: May--Oct
