Galium multiflorum Kellogg
Habit: Perennial herb, erect, 15--35 cm, glabrous to hairy, base woody; dioecious. Leaf: in whorls of 4, in 2 unequal pairs; leaves of larger pair 8--15 mm, generally arched, widely ovate to round, 3-veined, base round, tip +- obtuse, generally small-pointed to acuminate. Inflorescence: panicle, terminal. Flower: corolla +- bell-shaped, +- white to +- pink, glabrous to hairy. Fruit: nutlets, 4--7 mm including hairs; hairs long, straight. Chromosomes: 2n=22.
Ecology: Rocky places in sagebrush; Elevation: 1300--2900 m. Bioregional Distribution: n SNH, GB, DMtns; Distribution Outside California: Nevada. Flowering Time: May--Aug
