Galium magnifolium (Dempster) Dempster
Habit: Perennial herb, erect, 10--45 cm, glabrous except distal bracts, base woody; dioecious. Stem: flexible, few from base, leafy, internodes 1--4 × leaves. Leaf: in whorls of 4, 8--23 mm, generally lanceolate to ovate, flat, tip tapered to acute, not sharp. Inflorescence: staminate clustered in axils, pistillate flowers 1. Flower: corolla rotate, +- white, long-hairy externally (glabrous). Fruit: nutlets, 2--4 mm including hairs; hairs few, short, straight.
Ecology: Rocky slopes in juniper belt; Elevation: 800--2000 m. Bioregional Distribution: DMtns (Clark Mtn); Distribution Outside California: to Utah. Flowering Time: May--Aug
