Galium johnstonii Dempster & Stebbins
Habit: Perennial herb, erect, 18--46 cm, glabrous except leaf, base woody; dioecious. Stem: distal internodes 2--5 × leaves, >> proximal internodes. Leaf: in whorls of 4, 14--30 mm, +- linear. Inflorescence: clusters, terminal on ascending branchlets, flowers few. Flower: corolla rotate or +- bell-shaped, +- yellow, hairy. Fruit: nutlets, generally < pedicel; hairs generally spreading, < fruit, not hooked, occasionally weakly upcurved. Chromosomes: 2n=66.
Ecology: Open mixed forest; Elevation: 1650--2300 m. Bioregional Distribution: SnGb, SnBr. Flowering Time: May--Aug
