Galium hardhamiae Dempster
Habit: Perennial herb, low, matted, hairs stiff, +- dense on stems, sparser on leaves, flowers; dioecious. Stem: < 30 cm, internodes >> leaves. Leaf: in whorls of 6, 1--5 mm, lanceolate to ovate, fleshy, bright green, margin strongly rolled-under; petiole distinct, +- white. Inflorescence: long, leafy, flowers few in axillary and terminal clusters. Flower: corolla rotate, sparsely hairy externally, yellow to green or +- pink. Fruit: berry, glabrous to hairy. Chromosomes: 2n=22.
Ecology: Serpentine soil with Sargent cypress; Elevation: 400--950 m. Bioregional Distribution: SCoRO (Santa Lucia Range). Flowering Time: May--Sep
