Galium cliftonsmithii (Dempster) Dempster & Stebbins
Habit: Perennial herb, +- climbing; stems stout, woody, shiny, +- scabrous; dioecious. Stem: 3--18 dm. Leaf: in whorls of 4, 7--15 mm, ovate to elliptic, 1-veined, margin hairs recurved, tip acute to acuminate, with a sharp hair. Inflorescence: few-flowered clusters on branchlets. Flower: corolla rotate, +- yellow, glabrous. Fruit: berry, white; hairs 0. Chromosomes: 2n=+-188.
Ecology: Light shade, coastal canyons, dry banks, chaparral; Elevation: 200--1220 m. Bioregional Distribution: SCoRO, WTR. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun
