Galium buxifolium Greene
Habit: Shrub, erect, 3--6 dm, glabrous to scabrous or sparsely hairy, fruit hairs not like those of stem, leaf. Leaf: in whorls of 4, 8--30 mm, elliptic to widely oblanceolate or obovate, rounded, tip occasionally small-pointed, +- leathery; petiole base swollen. Inflorescence: dense, leafy flower clusters from woody stem nodes. Flower: bisexual or unisexual, corolla rotate, white. Fruit: nutlets; hairs curved toward tip.
Ecology: Rocky bluffs, slopes; Elevation: 10--400 m. Bioregional Distribution: n ChI. Flowering Time: Mar--Jul Note: Similar to Galium catalinense.
