Fritillaria recurva Benth.
Habit: Large bulb scales 4--6, small 20--30. Stem: 3--9 dm. Leaf: in 1--3 whorls of 2--5 below, alternate above, 3--15 cm, linear to narrowly lanceolate. Flower: nodding; perianth parts 1.5--3.7 cm, scarlet, checkered yellow adaxially, purple abaxially, tips generally recurved, nectary 1/5--1/4 perianth, narrowly lanceolate, yellow; style divided 1/4--1/2. Fruit: winged. Chromosomes: 2n=24,36.
Ecology: Common. Dry hillsides in scrub or woodland; Elevation: 300--2200 m. Bioregional Distribution: NW (NCo?), CaR, SN; Distribution Outside California: western Nevada. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun Note: May hybridize with Fritillaria affinis.
