Eriogonum truncatum Torr. & A. Gray
Habit: Annual 1--4.5 dm. Stem: (0.1)0.2--0.6(0.8) dm, tomentose. Leaf: basal and cauline; blades (0.8)1--5(7) cm, (0.2)1--2(3) cm wide, tomentose abaxially, hairy to +- glabrous adaxially. Inflorescence: (5)10--30(40) cm, 5--30 cm wide; branches tomentose to hairy; peduncles 0; involucres at tips of slender branchlets, 2.5--3.5(4) mm, 2--2.5 mm wide, tomentose. Flower: (1.5)1.7--2(2.2) mm, glabrous; perianth white to rose, lobes elliptic to oblong or obovate; styles 0.2--0.3 mm. Fruit: 1.7--2 mm; tip smooth.
Ecology: Sand; Elevation: 200--400 m. Bioregional Distribution: ScV (extirpated near Suisun, Solano Co.), ne SnFrB (Mount Diablo, Contra Costa Co.; extirpated Alameda Co.). Flowering Time: Apr--Aug
Unabridged Note: A population on Mount Diablo, where the sp. was presumed to be extirpated, was rediscovered in 2005.
