Eremalche rotundifolia (A. Gray) Greene
Stem: erect, 8--60 cm, sometimes branched from base; hairs generally simple, bristly. Leaf: 1.5--6 cm wide, round-reniform, crenate to coarsely dentate. Inflorescence: flowers including petioles generally >> subtending leaves; bractlets 6--10 mm. Flower: bisexual; calyx 9.5--14 mm, lobes 5.5--11 mm, 3.5--7 mm wide; petals 15--30 mm, pink-purple, base with bright purple area. Fruit: segments generally 25--35, 2.8--3.5 mm, wafer-like, margins sharp, outer wall net-veined. Chromosomes: 2n=20.
Ecology: Dry desert scrub; Elevation: -50--1200 m. Bioregional Distribution: D; Distribution Outside California: Nevada, Arizona, northwestern Mexico. Flowering Time: Mar--May
