Epilobium minutum Lindl.
Habit: Annual < 4 dm, taprooted, +- peeling proximally, +- glabrous to strigose. Leaf: opposite near base, alternate distally, 9--25 mm, generally lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, +- glabrous; petiole 0--2 mm. Inflorescence: open, strigose. Flower: hypanthium 1.1--1.5 mm; sepals 1.3--2.5 mm; petals 2--5 mm, white or pink; stigma club-like to barely lobed. Fruit: 9--28 mm, +- glabrous; pedicel 3--10 mm. Seed: 0.9--1.2 mm, netted; hair-tuft readily deciduous. Chromosomes: 2n=26.
Ecology: Dry, open, disturbed areas, vernal pools, often after fire; Elevation: 15--2320 m. Bioregional Distribution: NW, CaR, n&c SN, ScV, CW, SnBr, PR, GB, n DMoj; Distribution Outside California: to British Columbia, Montana, western Nevada. Flowering Time: Apr--Sep
