Dalea ornata (Douglas ex Hook.) Eaton & J. Wright
Habit: Perennial herb, glabrous. Stem: clustered, ascending, 2.5--5 dm. Leaf: leaflets 5--7, 10--20 mm, widely ovate to elliptic. Inflorescence: (except corollas) +- 12--16 mm wide, ovoid to cylindric, compact, axis not visible between fruits. Flower: calyx 4--6 mm, tube not slit, thinly papery, hairs long, ascending, silky; corolla pale lavender to rose-purple, banner 7--9 mm, other petals 4--6 mm; stamens 5.
Ecology: Open, rocky hillsides; Elevation: 1400 m. Bioregional Distribution: MP (Shaffer Mtn, Lassen Co.); Distribution Outside California: to Washington, Idaho, Nevada. Flowering Time: Jun
