Cuscuta suaveolens Ser.
Inflorescence: +- umbel-like, flowers 5--18; pedicels 2--5(7) mm. Flower: 3--5 mm, generally membranous, parts in 5s; calyx 1/2--3/4 corolla tube, cup-shaped, generally divided 1/2, not veined, not shiny, lobes triangular ovate, bases +- overlapped, margins entire, rolled under, tip obtuse; corolla tube 2.5--3 mm, bell-shaped, scales generally = corolla tube, oblong-ovate, rounded, densely fringed, lobes erect to spreading, +- 1/2 tube, ovate-triangular, not papillate, margins entire, tip acute, incurved; filaments 0.25--0.4 mm, anthers exserted, 0.6--0.8 mm, oblong-ovate; styles 1.6--5.5 mm. Fruit: 2.5--3.5 mm, 2.5--3.5 mm wide, spheric, thickened, not thickened or raised around opening between styles, not translucent, 3/4 surrounded by corolla. Seed: 2--4, 1.3--2 mm, 1--1.7 mm wide, +- spheric to widely elliptic.
Ecology: Generally on herbs, crops, roadsides, fields; Elevation: 25--300 m. Bioregional Distribution: SnJV (extirpated); Distribution Outside California: Alabama, New Mexico, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas, Europe, native to South America. Flowering Time: Jul--Oct
