Inflorescence: in inflorescence of host, head-like, flowers 3--30; pedicels 0--0.6 mm. Flower: 3--4.5 mm, membranous, papillate, parts in 4s(5s); calyx >= corolla tube, bell-shaped, divided 1/2--2/3, finely veined, shiny, lobes triangular-ovate, bases not overlapped, margins entire, tip acuminate to long-acuminate, recurved; corolla tube 1.5--2.2 mm, narrowly bell- to urn-shaped, scales +- 1/2 corolla tube, oblong-ovate, rounded, uniformly densely fringed, lobes +- erect to spreading, generally = tube, triangular-ovate, margins entire, tip acute to long-acuminate, recurved; filaments 0.1--0.4 mm, anthers included, 0.4--0.7 mm, elliptic; styles 0.4--1.1 mm, 1/4 to generally = ovary. Fruit: 1.2--1.5 mm, 0.8--1.2 mm wide, spheric to spheric-depressed, not thickened or raised around opening between styles, not translucent, enclosed by corolla, capped by it in age. Seed: 1--4, 0.9--1.4 mm, 0.8--1.3 mm wide, +- round to widely elliptic.
Ecology: Margins of vernal pools generally on Eryngium, Navarretia, Polygonum polygaloides subsp. kelloggii, Epilobium campestre; Elevation: 140--1650 m. Bioregional Distribution: KR/CaRH, NCoRI, CaRF, n SNF, GV, MP. Flowering Time: Aug--Sep
