Cryptantha roosiorum Munz
Habit: Perennial herb 1--2(3) cm; caudex woody, branched. Stem: +- many, +- >= basal leaves, spreading-soft-bristly. Leaf: basal rosettes generally many; 0.5--1.2(1.5) cm, oblanceolate to narrow-spoon-shaped, +- thick, gray-green, +- dense-silky-hairy to tomentose, bristles mostly appressed, bulbous-based. Inflorescence: dense, +- head-like, not elongated in fruit; pedicel short-elongated in fruit, 1.5--3 mm. Flower: calyx 2.5--3 mm, 3.5--5(6) mm in fruit, dense-strigose, +- spreading-bristly; corolla late-deciduous, aging +- brown, tube 2--3 mm, limb 4.5--5.5 mm diam, appendages yellow. Fruit: nutlets generally 1--3, 2--2.5 mm, lance-ovate to ovate, +- constricted above, +- dark gray, +- shiny to dull, margin sharp-angled or occasionally rounded; abaxially dense-tubercled with low-rounded wrinkles or papillate, ridge rounded; adaxially tubercled to papillate, attachment scar edges abutted near tip, +- wide-gapped lower 1/2, narrow-triangular, edges not raised; axis beyond nutlets.
Ecology: Rocky, dry meadows in open bristlecone pine-limber pine forest; Elevation: 2570--3230 m. Bioregional Distribution: s W&I (n Inyo Mtns). Flowering Time: Jun--Jul
