Cryptantha corollata (I.M. Johnst.) I.M. Johnst.
Habit: Annual 10--45 cm, erect, slender. Stem: branched to not; sparse-bristly below, hairs appressed. Leaf: 1--4 cm, oblong to narrow-oblanceolate; margin appressed- to +- spreading-minute-soft-bulbous-based-bristly. Inflorescence: in 2s or 3s; bracts 0; pedicel 0.5 mm, erect to ascending. Flower: calyx 1.5--2 mm, 3--3.5 mm in fruit, constricted above, late-deciduous, lobes erect to +- spreading, oblong, short-rough-hairy, hairs ascending to occasionally spreading, midvein not thickened; corolla limb 3--5 mm diam, appendages yellow. Fruit: nutlets generally 1(2), 2.2--2.5 mm, lance-ovate, grainy, dense-tubercled, +- dull, margin rounded, base truncate, tip short-beaked; abaxially +- rounded, spine wide, obscure toward base; adaxially +- flat, attachment scar edges raised toward tip, abutted at tip or entire length, flare-gapped at base; axis not to nutlet tips.
Ecology: Dry, rocky slopes, ridges, grassland, chaparral, foothill woodland, occasionally on serpentine; Elevation: 200--1450 m. Bioregional Distribution: s SNF, Teh, s SnJV, SnFrB, s SCoRO, SCoRI, WTR, SnGb, SnJt. Flowering Time: Mar--Jun
