Cotoneaster franchetii Bois
Habit: Shrub 1--3 m, arching; evergreen. Leaf: blade 18--62 mm, ovate, abaxially generally +- yellow- or +- gray-tomentose, adaxially shiny, lateral veins sunken, tip acute to acuminate. Flower: 7--10 mm; petals erect, pink or rose, at least at base; stamens 16--21, filaments pink, tips pale, anthers pink to purple; styles 2--3(4). Fruit: 8--12 mm, 6--9 mm wide, obovate, orange to red-orange; stones 2--3(4).
Ecology: Thickets, meadows, forest, riparian edges, disturbed places; Elevation: < 500 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCo, KR, NCoRO, n CW; Distribution Outside California: to British Columbia; native to China. Flowering Time: May--Jul, fruiting Oct--Apr
