Collinsia torreyi A. Gray
Habit: Plant 5--25 cm. Inflorescence: open, conspicuously densely glandular, staining; distal-most bracts 0--2 mm; pedicels generally >> calyx, some strongly reflexed in fruit, S-shaped. Flower: calyx +- = fruit, lobe tips +- blunt; corolla 4--10 mm, throat angled to tube, as wide as long, throat and lower lip generally blue (lavender +- purple), upper lip +- white or pale lavender, with projections bulging < 1 mm away from throat opening at base of each lobe; filaments glabrous, upper pair sometimes hairy at base, basal spur 0. Seed: 2.
Note: Collinsia torreyi var. wrightii and Collinsia torreyi var. brevicarinata perhaps best treated as Collinsia wrightii S. Watson.
