Collinsia greenei A. Gray
Habit: Plant 10--30 cm, generally +- purple, +- candelabra-like. Leaf: narrowly (ob)lanceolate to ovate, entire to toothed, obtuse at tip. Inflorescence: interrupted, glandular; pedicels 1--5 per node, +- = calyx. Flower: calyx > fruit, lobe tips blunt; corolla generally 10--15 mm, +- uniformly dark purple, upper lip +- 1/2 lower, base of each upper lobe with 2 crested projections bulging > 1 mm away from throat opening; filaments glabrous, occasionally hairy at base of upper pair, basal spur 0. Seed: 2--4, wafer-like, +- concave. Chromosomes: n=7.
Ecology: Open chaparral or conifer forest, serpentine slopes; Elevation: 300--2500 m. Bioregional Distribution: KR, NCoRH, NCoRI. Flowering Time: Apr--Aug
