Clarkia prostrata H. Lewis & M. Lewis
Stem: prostrate to decumbent, < 5 dm, sparsely puberulent. Leaf: +- sessile; blade 1--2.5 cm, elliptic to oblanceolate, tip generally obtuse. Inflorescence: axis in bud straight; buds erect. Flower: hypanthium 3--7 mm; sepals generally staying fused in 2s; corolla bowl-shaped, petals 10--15 mm, fan-shaped to obovate, lavender-pink shading to pale yellow proximally, +- red spot distal to base; stamens 8, anthers alike; ovary 8-grooved, stigma not exserted beyond anthers. Chromosomes: n=26.
Ecology: Coastal bluffs in grassland, closed-cone-pine forest; Elevation: < 100 m. Bioregional Distribution: s CCo. Flowering Time: May--Jul Note: Possibly from hybrids between Clarkia davyi, Clarkia speciosa.
