Clarkia imbricata H. Lewis & M. Lewis
Stem: erect, < 6 dm, glabrous or sparsely puberulent. Leaf: petiole 0--2 mm; blade 2--2.5 cm, lanceolate. Inflorescence: dense; axis in bud straight; buds erect. Flower: hypanthium 10--15 mm, conspicuously veined; sepals fused to tip in bud, all coming free; corolla bowl-shaped, petals 20--25 mm, fan-shaped, lavender shading paler near middle, with large wedge-shaped purple-red spot distally; stamens 8, anthers alike; ovary > distal internode, 8-grooved, stigma exserted beyond anthers. Chromosomes: n=8.
Ecology: Clearings, roadsides, perhaps chaparral; Elevation: +- 50 m. Bioregional Distribution: NCoRO (Sonoma Co.). Flowering Time: Jun--Jul
