Clarkia franciscana H. Lewis & P.H. Raven
Stem: erect, < 4 dm, puberulent. Leaf: petiole < 5 mm; blade 1--3.5 cm, narrowly lanceolate. Inflorescence: axis in bud straight; buds erect. Flower: hypanthium 1--3 mm; sepals staying fused in 4s; corolla bowl-shaped, petals 5--13 mm, wedge-shaped, +- truncate at tip, lavender-pink shading to white near middle, base +- red; stamens 8, anthers alike; ovary 4-grooved, stigma not exserted beyond anthers. Chromosomes: n=7.
Ecology: Serpentine soil; Elevation: +- 50 m. Bioregional Distribution: CCo (Presidio, San Francisco), SnFrB (Oakland hills). Flowering Time: May--Jun
