Clarkia exilis H. Lewis & Vasek
Stem: erect, < 1 m, glabrous, glaucous. Leaf: petiole < 5 mm or 0; blade 1--6 cm, lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, glabrous, not glaucous, bright green. Inflorescence: axis in bud straight; buds reflexed. Flower: hypanthium 1--3 mm; sepals staying fused in 4s, generally green, sparsely to densely puberulent; corolla rotate, petals 5--15 mm, lavender, pink, or white, often with dark +- purple spot, claw >= blade, slender, blade generally diamond-shaped; stamens 8, outer anthers generally +- red, inner smaller, paler; ovary 8-grooved, hairs as on sepals, stigma +- not beyond anthers. Fruit: 1.5--3 cm, +- 2 mm wide. Chromosomes: n=9.
