Clarkia bottae (Spach) H. Lewis & M. Lewis
Stem: erect, < 1 m, glabrous (puberulent), glaucous. Leaf: petiole < 5 mm; blade 3--10 cm, narrowly lanceolate to lanceolate. Inflorescence: axis in bud straight; buds reflexed. Flower: hypanthium 2--3 mm; sepals staying fused in 4s; corolla bowl-shaped, petals 15--30 mm, fan-shaped, pale lavender to pink-lavender, often white toward base, generally red-flecked; stamens 8, outer anthers lavender, inner << outer, paler; stigma exserted beyond anthers. Seed: brown. Chromosomes: n=9.
Ecology: Openings in chaparral, woodland, coastal scrub; Elevation: < 1000 m. Bioregional Distribution: s SNF, CCo, SCoRO, SCo, WTR, SnGb, nw PR. Flowering Time: Apr--Jul
