Clarkia arcuata (Kellogg) A. Nelson & J.F. Macbr.
Stem: erect, < 8 dm; hairs 0 or scattered, spreading. Leaf: sessile, 1.5--6 cm, linear to narrowly lanceolate or oblanceolate. Inflorescence: axis in bud recurved at tip; buds pendent; pedicel 5--15 mm. Flower: hypanthium 3--7 mm; sepals staying fused in 4s, puberulent, hairs spreading, some short, glandular; corolla bowl-shaped, petals 10--30 mm, fan-shaped, pink-lavender, lighter proximally, often with a dark +- red spot at base; stamens 8, anthers alike; ovary 8-grooved, generally +- sparsely glandular-puberulent, stigma exserted beyond anthers. Fruit: 1--3.5 cm; beak < 7 mm. Chromosomes: n=7.
Ecology: Openings in woodland, chaparral, drying soils including serpentine; Elevation: < 1700 m. Bioregional Distribution: CaRF, n&c SN. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun
