Chenopodium watsonii A. Nelson
Habit: Annual 10--45 cm, scented. Stem: erect or ascending, base branched. Leaf: petiole 1/2 to = blade; blade 10--26 mm, broadly rounded-ovate, rounded-diamond-shaped, or ovate, entire to 2-lobed or -toothed near base, both surfaces powdery, base rounded or tapered to +- truncate, tip rounded to obtuse, acute, or small-toothed. Inflorescence: leafy, clusters in panicles of spikes. Flower: calyx tube short, sepals ovate, keeled abaxially, powdery, enclosing fruit. Fruit: 1--1.3 mm diam, wall attached to seed, +- white, deeply pitted. Seed: horizontal. Chromosomes: 2n=18.
Ecology: Woodland, scrub; Elevation: < 3200 m. Bioregional Distribution: SnGb; Distribution Outside California: to southern Canada, central United States. Flowering Time: Jul--Oct
