Chenopodium pratericola Rydb.
Habit: Annual, generally erect, 16--65 cm, simple or branched. Leaf: blade 1.5--4.2(6) cm, length 3--5 × width, elliptic to narrowly lanceolate, oblong-elliptic, or lanceolate, generally 1--2-lobed near base, 3-veined, thin, glabrous to sparsely powdery adaxially, densely powdery abaxially, tip acute or occasionally acuminate. Inflorescence: clusters in terminal and axillary panicles. Flower: calyx lobes (4)5, oblong-ovate, abaxially keeled, moderately to densely powdery, tip obtuse, +- spreading in fruit. Fruit: 1--1.5 mm diam; wall free from seed. Seed: horizontal, lenticular, black, shiny, finely wrinkled. Chromosomes: 2n=18.
Ecology: Open, dry places; Elevation: < 2500 m. Bioregional Distribution: CaR, SN, GV, e SnFrB, SCoR, WTR, SNE, D; Distribution Outside California: to eastern United States. Flowering Time: Jun--Sep Note: +- like Chenopodium atrovirens.
