Chenopodium nevadense Standl.
Habit: Annual 15--40 cm, many-branched distally, branches forked in pairs; spheric in fruit. Leaf: blade 6--18 mm, ovate to +- diamond-shaped or elliptic, entire or generally 2-lobed, occasionally some teeth near base, lobes spreading; powdery abaxially, occasionally +- glabrous. Inflorescence: axillary and terminal, panicle-like. Flower: calyx lobes ovate, abaxially +- keeled, tip obtuse +- enclosing fruit. Fruit: wall minutely papillate, attached to seed. Seed: horizontal, < 0.8 mm, black.
Ecology: Washes, scrub; Elevation: 1400--2000 m. Bioregional Distribution: c SNH (e slope), SNE; Distribution Outside California: southeastern Oregon, Nevada. Flowering Time: Jun--Aug
