Chenopodium leptophyllum (Moq.) S. Watson
Habit: Annual 10--40 cm, branched from base. Leaf: petiole 3--4 mm, generally < 1/4 blade; blade 8--25 mm, generally < 3.5 mm wide, linear, entire, densely powdery abaxially, less so adaxially, tip +- round. Inflorescence: clusters widely spaced, in panicles. Flower: sepals (4)5, lanceolate to elliptic, partially reflexed in age, densely powdery. Fruit: 0.5--0.7 mm diam; wall loosely attached to seed, white or +- yellow, papillate or smooth. Seed: horizontal, lenticular, margin rounded; seed coat black, finely netted adaxially. Chromosomes: 2n=18.
Ecology: Open, gravelly soils, scrub; Elevation: 300--3200 m. Bioregional Distribution: s NCoRH, c&s SN, W&I, n DMoj; Distribution Outside California: to eastern United States, northern Mexico. Flowering Time: Jul--Sep Note: +- like Chenopodium hians.
