Ceanothus sanguineus Pursh NATIVE Habit: Plant erect, open, < 3 m. Stem: ascending to erect; twigs flexible, not thorn-like, green to red-brown. Leaf: alternate, deciduous; stipules scale-like; petiole 5--25 mm; blade 25--95 mm, 17--60 mm wide, ovate to widely elliptic, thin, not leathery, adaxially green, +- glabrous, not sticky, abaxially paler, generally puberulent, especially veins, tip obtuse to rounded, margin minutely glandular-serrate, teeth 30--80+. Inflorescence: panicle-like, 3--8 cm. Flower: white. Fruit: 3--4.5 mm wide, brown, sticky, +- 3-ridged distally; horns 0. Ecology: Flats, canyon, mixed conifer forest; Elevation: 700--1700 m.
