Ceanothus incanus Torr. & A. Gray
Habit: Plant erect, open, < 4 m. Stem: ascending to erect; twigs rigid, thorn-like or not, pale gray to gray-green. Leaf: alternate, evergreen; stipules scale-like; petiole 3--12 mm; blade 20--50+ mm, 10--45 mm wide, +- widely ovate, adaxially dull green, glabrous to sparsely puberulent, abaxially gray-green, strigose, 3-ribbed from base, margin generally entire. Inflorescence: generally panicle-like, 3--7 cm, generally stalked. Flower: white. Fruit: 4--6 mm wide, sticky, coarse-wrinkled when dry; horns minute. Chromosomes: 2n=24.
Ecology: Flats, slopes, chaparral, mixed-evergreen forest; Elevation: < 900 m. Bioregional Distribution: NW, CCo, SnFrB. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun
