Ceanothus gloriosus J.T. Howell
Habit: Plant mat-like to erect, +- open. Stem: erect to spreading, occasionally arched, rooting at nodes or not; twigs generally angled near tips, green, red-brown, or brown. Leaf: opposite, some clustered, evergreen; stipules knob-like; petiole 1--4 mm; blade 10--45 mm, 5--24 mm wide, length generally < 2 × width, widely elliptic, obovate, or round, adaxially dark green, glabrous, abaxially glabrous to puberulent, tip obtuse, truncate, or notched, margin teeth sharp. Inflorescence: +- umbel-like, 1--2.5 cm. Flower: blue to blue-purple. Fruit: 4--6 mm wide, smooth to +- 3-ridged distally; horns < 1.5 mm. Chromosomes: 2n=24.
