Castilleja gleasoni Elmer
Habit: Perennial herb to subshrub, 30--80 cm, ash-gray, glandular-puberulent, densely branched-hairy. Stem: simple or branched from middle, axillary shoots generally 0. Leaf: 20--60 mm, linear to lanceolate, lobes 0--3, tips obtuse. Inflorescence: 10--30 cm, bracts 15--20 mm, lobes 3 from below middle, linear, red. Flower: calyx 13--15 mm, divided 2/5 abaxially and adaxially, divided 1/5--1/4, on sides, lobes ovate, obtuse, red; corolla 25--30 mm, beak 15--20 mm, +- yellow with wide red margins, lower lip +- 2 mm, dark green to +- black, spreading; stigma 2-lobed, exserted. Fruit: +- 15 mm. Seed: 1--1.5 mm; coat deeply netted, most walls ladder-like.
Ecology: Cliffs, rocky slopes in open yellow-pine forest; Elevation: 1100--2200 m. Bioregional Distribution: SnGb (Mount Gleason). Flowering Time: May--Jun
