Calochortus vestae Purdy
Stem: 30--50 cm, generally branched, bulblets present. Leaf: basal 10--20 cm, withering; cauline 1--3, 7--20 cm. Inflorescence: +- umbel-like; flowers 1--6, erect; bracts 2--5 cm. Flower: perianth bell-shaped; sepals 20--30 mm, lance-linear, long-tapered; petals 30--40 mm, wedge-shaped to obovate, white to +- purple, +- red-lined below nectary, centrally red-brown-blotched in pale yellow zone, sparsely short-hairy near nectary, nectary not depressed, 2 side-by-side crescents or chevrons, densely short-hairy; filaments 7--10 mm, anthers 7--10 mm, oblong-linear, white to light yellow or pink. Fruit: erect, linear, angled. Chromosomes: n=14.
Ecology: Clay soil in mixed-evergreen or yellow-pine forests; Elevation: 500--900 m. Bioregional Distribution: s KR, NCoR. Flowering Time: May--Jul
