Calochortus umbellatus Alph. Wood
Stem: 8--25 cm, generally 2-branched, bulblets 0. Leaf: basal 20--40 cm, persistent; cauline generally 1, linear. Inflorescence: +- umbel-like; flowers 3--12, +- erect; bracts >= 2, 1--6 cm, linear. Flower: perianth bell-shaped, white or pale pink-lilac, generally purple-spotted at base; sepals 10--14 mm, lance-elliptic; petals 12--18 mm, widely wedge-shaped to obovate, +- toothed, not ciliate, +- glabrous, nectary rounded below, truncate above, covered by ciliate membrane, bordered above by short hairs; filaments 5 mm, dilated at base, anthers 2--3 mm, oblong, white to light blue or pink. Fruit: nodding, 10--14 mm, widely elliptic, winged. Seed: irregular, dark brown, net-like. Chromosomes: 2n=20.
Ecology: Open chaparral or woodland, generally on serpentine; Elevation: 100--700 m. Bioregional Distribution: s NCoRO, SnFrB. Flowering Time: Mar--May
