Calochortus simulans (Hoover) Munz
Stem: 10--60 cm, generally branched, bulblets present. Leaf: basal 10--20 cm, withering; cauline 1--3, 4--10 cm. Inflorescence: +- umbel-like; flowers 1--3, erect; bracts 2--8 cm. Flower: perianth bell-shaped; sepals 20--30 mm, tips recurved; petals 30--50 mm, obovate to wedge-shaped, white to yellow, sparsely hairy near base, nectary in dark red spot (2nd spot generally 0), not depressed, +- square, short-hairy; filaments 9--11 mm, anthers 7--9 mm, lance-linear to oblong, yellow-red. Chromosomes: n=7.
Ecology: Sand (often granitic), grassland to yellow-pine forest; Elevation: < 1100 m. Bioregional Distribution: se SCoRO (c San Luis Obispo Co.). Flowering Time: May--Jul
