Calochortus plummerae Greene
Habit: Bulb coat fibrous. Stem: 30--60 cm, slender, generally branched, bulblets 0. Leaf: basal 20--40 cm, linear, withering; cauline 4--17 cm, narrowly long-tapered, reduced upward, upper inrolled. Inflorescence: flowers 2--6, erect; bracts leaf-like. Flower: perianth widely bell-shaped, pale pink to rose drying +- purple; sepals 30--50 mm, lanceolate, long-tapered; petals 30--40 mm, widely wedge-shaped to obovate, margin entire or occasionally fringed to near tip, generally toothed, long-yellow-hairy in wide central band, nectary round, +- depressed, +- glabrous, +- hidden by dense, orange bordering hairs; filaments 9--11 mm, dilated at base, anthers 10--14 mm, lance-linear, acute to +- long- pointed, yellow to light tan. Fruit: erect, 4--8 cm, linear, angled. Seed: flat, finely net-like. Chromosomes: n=9.
Ecology: Dry, rocky chaparral, yellow-pine forest; Elevation: < 1700 m. Bioregional Distribution: SCo, TR, PR. Flowering Time: May--Jul
