Calochortus obispoensis Lemmon
Habit: Bulb coat fibrous. Stem: 30--60 cm, slender, generally branched. Leaf: basal 20--30 cm, linear, long-tapered, channeled, withering; cauline 2, 4--12 cm, reduced upward, upper inrolled. Inflorescence: flowers 2--6, erect. Flower: perianth +- rotate; sepals 10--30 mm, lanceolate to acuminate, reflexed; petals 10--20 mm, yellow to deep orange, +- ovate, coarse-hairy adaxially, fringed, tip dark-hair-tufted, nectary round, glabrous, +- depressed, +- hidden by dense, slender, bordering hairs with fused bases; filaments slender, anthers dark red-brown. Fruit: erect, 3--4 cm, linear, angled, tip long-tapered. Seed: +- flat, light yellow to tan, finely net-like. Chromosomes: n=9.
Ecology: Dry serpentine, generally open chaparral; Elevation: 100--500 m. Bioregional Distribution: c CCo (e), s SCoRO (San Luis Obispo Co.). Flowering Time: May--Jun
