Calochortus minimus Ownbey
Stem: < 10 cm, simple. Leaf: basal 10--20 cm, persistent; cauline +- 0. Inflorescence: flowers 1--5(10), +- erect; bracts generally 2, opposite, 1--2(6) cm, lanceolate. Flower: perianth bell-shaped; sepals 8--10 mm, lanceolate; petal 10--14 mm, +- erect, obovate to wedge-shaped, white, not ciliate, +- glabrous except near nectary, nectary bordered below by +- ciliate membrane; filaments 4--5 mm, dilated at base, anthers 3--4 mm, linear-oblong, white, +- blue, or purple. Fruit: nodding, 15--20 mm, elliptic, winged. Seed: irregular, yellow to light brown, net-like. Chromosomes: 2n=20.
Ecology: Common. Moist, open woodland, lake margins; Elevation: 1200--3000 m. Bioregional Distribution: s CaRH, SNH. Flowering Time: May--Aug Note: Derivatives of hybrids with Calochortus nudus in northern SNH.
