Calochortus concolor (Baker) Purdy
Stem: 30--60 cm, straight, generally stout, bulblets generally 0. Leaf: basal 10--20 cm, glaucous, withering; cauline 2--4, 5--15 cm, inrolled. Inflorescence: +- umbel-like; flowers 1--7, erect; bracts 4--8 cm. Flower: perianth bell-shaped; sepals 20--30 mm, generally dark-red-blotched near base; petals 30--50 mm, yellow (often drying +- purple), sparsely long-yellow-hairy near nectary, nectary generally small, +- round, depressed, encircled by fringed membrane, densely slender-hairy. Fruit: erect, 5--8 cm, narrowly lanceolate, angled. Chromosomes: 2n=+-14.
Ecology: Dry, often granitic slopes in chaparral, yellow-pine forest; Elevation: 600--2500 m. Bioregional Distribution: SnBr (s slope), PR; Distribution Outside California: northern Baja California. Flowering Time: May--Jul
