Calochortus catalinae S. Watson
Stem: 20--70 cm, generally branched above, bulblets present. Leaf: basal 10--30 cm, flat, withering; cauline reduced upward. Inflorescence: flowers 1--4, erect; bracts 2--10 cm. Flower: perianth cup-shaped; sepals 20--30 mm, lanceolate, green, purple-spotted near base; petals 20--50 mm, wedge-shaped, white, tinged lilac, purple-spotted near base, +- glabrous, nectary not depressed, oblong, densely branched-hairy; filaments 8--10 mm, deep purple, anthers 4--5 mm, narrowly oblong, obtuse, +- flat, lilac, red. Fruit: 2--5 cm, erect, narrowly oblong, not angled, tip obtuse. Seed: +- flat, light tan, net-like. Chromosomes: n=7.
Ecology: Heavy soil, open grassland or scrub; Elevation: < 700 m. Bioregional Distribution: s CCo, s SCoRO, w SCo, esp ChI, w edge WTR, SnGb, n PR. Flowering Time: Mar--May Note: Threatened by development.
