Calochortus amabilis Purdy
Habit: Plant leafy, +- glaucous. Stem: 10--50 cm, generally branched. Leaf: basal 20--50 cm, persistent; cauline 2--4, 2--20 cm, lanceolate to linear. Inflorescence: flowers 2--many, nodding; bracts 2--10 cm, lanceolate. Flower: perianth spheric, closed or parts crossing each other at tip; sepals 15--20 mm, ovate to lanceolate, spreading; petals 16--20 mm, widely lanceolate, deep yellow, brown-spotted abaxially, glabrous except margin densely ciliate, nectary deep, bordered above by band of +- yellow hairs; filaments 5 mm, dilated at base, anthers 3--4 mm, white to pale yellow. Fruit: nodding, 20--30 mm, oblong, winged. Seed: irregular, dark brown. Chromosomes: 2n=20.
Ecology: Common. Shady or open woodland, scrub; Elevation: 100--1000 m. Bioregional Distribution: KR, NCoRO, NCoRI, nw SnFrB. Flowering Time: Apr--Jun
