Callitriche palustris L.
Leaf: floating rosette generally present; submersed leaves linear-oblong; floating, emergent, or terrestrial leaves often present, spoon-shaped leaves generally gradually narrowed to petiole; petiole 1--3.5 mm; terrestrial leaves 3--4.5 mm, 0.6--1 mm wide; blade 2.5--5.5 mm, 1--5 mm wide. Inflorescence: bracts 2, 0.3--1 mm, persistent in fruit or early-deciduous. Fruit: subsessile, 0.7--1 mm, 0.7--1 mm wide (wider distal to middle); wing distal to middle only or 0.
Ecology: Submerged, with floating rosettes or becoming stranded at edge of lake, pools, or streams; Elevation: < 4000 m. Bioregional Distribution: CA-FP, GB; Distribution Outside California: northern and western United States, Canada, Europe, Asia; naturalized in Australia. Flowering Time: May--Aug
