Botrychium montanum W.H. Wagner
Leaf: sporophore, trophophore joined distal to mid-leaf; trophophore stalk 2--15 mm, blade 1-pinnate, 0.5--2.5 cm, < 1 cm wide, irregularly linear to oblong, gray-green, dull, pinnae square or oblong, side margins +- parallel to converging at an angle < 45°, broadly attached and decurrent, not midribbed; sporophore unbranched to 1-pinnate, sporangial clusters or branches widely spaced, stalk 1--2.5 × trophophore. Chromosomes: 2n=90.
Ecology: Shady conifer woodland, especially under Calocedrus along streams; Elevation: 1500--2100 m. Bioregional Distribution: s CaRH, n&s SNH, Wrn; Distribution Outside California: to Alaska, Montana.
