Botrychium lunaria (L.) Sw.
Leaf: sporophore, trophophore joined distal to mid-leaf; trophophore stalk 0--8 mm, blade 1-pinnate, generally 6--10 cm, 2--4 cm wide, oblong, thick, dark green, pinnae touching to overlapping, generally 4--6(9) pairs, broadly fan-shaped, not midribbed, side margins of basal pinnae converging at 120--180°, outer margins generally entire; sporophore mostly 1-pinnate, deltate, branches spreading to +- ascending, basal branches not downturned at maturity, stalk 1--1.5 × trophophore; spores 33--39 µm in longest diam. Chromosomes: 2n=90.
Ecology: Moist meadows; Elevation: 2300--3400 m. Bioregional Distribution: c SNH, Wrn; Distribution Outside California: northern hemisphere, Australia, New Zealand.
