Atriplex truncata (Torr. ex S. Watson) A. Gray
Habit: Annual, erect, < 7 dm. Stem: 1--few, +- angled; branches ascending, gray-scaly. Leaf: proximal generally petioled, distal sessile; blade 10--40 mm, ovate to deltate, glabrous to sparsely gray-scaly, base truncate to rounded or +- lobed; Kranz. Pistillate Inflorescence: bracts in fruit 2--4 mm, fused to near tip, widely wedge-shaped, smooth to +- tubercled, tip +- truncate to notched, 3--5-dentate. Seed: 1--1.5 mm, brown. Chromosomes: 2n=18.
Ecology: Alkaline soils, flats; Elevation: 600--2500 m. Bioregional Distribution: SNH (e slope), TR (desert slopes), GB, DMoj; Distribution Outside California: to British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Colorado, New Mexico. Flowering Time: Jun--Sep
