Amsinckia douglasiana A. DC.
Stem: slender, branched in +- upper 1/2. Leaf: occasionally +- narrow-spoon-shaped. Flower: calyx lobes unequal in width, 2--4 from fusion below middle, notched at tip, margins coarse-dark-hairy, abaxially fine-red-brown-hairy; corolla 14--22 mm, tube 20-veined near base, limb 10--16 mm diam, yellow-orange with 5 dark spots. Fruit: 3--5 mm, gray, dull, cobblestone-like. Chromosomes: 2n=12.
Ecology: Unstable shaly sedimentary slopes; Elevation: (100)150--1600 m. Bioregional Distribution: SCoR, w WTR. Flowering Time: Mar--Jun Note: Heterostylous.
Unabridged Note: Amsinckia douglasiana has long been confused with a number of Amsinckia taxa, most commonly Amsinckia menziesii var. intermedia, and occasionally Amsinckia tessellata var. gloriosa or Amsinckia eastwoodiae.
